1. Cost Guide
We originally planned a self-guided trip. After checking quotations from several online travel agencies, the estimated cost for two people was MYR 860. 2. Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Tiananmen Square - The Palace Museum - Jingshan Park
We arrived at Tiananmen Square early in the morning. Then we entered the Palace Museum and visited core halls such as Hall of Supreme Harmony and Palace of Heavenly Purity along the central axis. In the late afternoon, we climbed Jingshan Park to overlook the full view of golden roofs of the Forbidden City.
·Jingshan Hill was artificially built in the Ming Dynasty. Emperor Chongzhen ended his reign here, marking the fall of the Ming Dynasty.
·The Palace Museum is closed on Mondays. Real-name reservation is required in advance. Drones are prohibited inside the scenic area.
Day 2: Temple of Heaven Park - Nanluoguxiang
In the morning, we visited the Temple of Heaven, explored Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and Echo Wall to admire ancient imperial sacrificial architecture. In the afternoon, we strolled along old hutongs in Nanluoguxiang, browsed specialty shops and tasted authentic local snacks.
·The Echo Wall uses sound reflection on smooth walls, so whispers can be heard on the other side.
·Nanluoguxiang is crowded, keep your valuables safe. Many electric bikes run in hutongs, watch your step while walking.
