Sept182026

I'm a Russian travel enthusiast, and this time I joined a five-day all-inclusive tour to Zhangjiajie with six friends and family members. The tour was very affordable, with a five-day, four-night all-inclusive package costing just over 1,000 yuan per person. The pricing was transparent throughout, with no hidden fees. We were led by a professional guide, Kai, who provided attentive service and a well-planned itinerary, allowing us to easily explore Zhangjiajie and immerse ourselves in the unique landscapes and cultural charm of western Hunan.

2. Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Zhangjiajie, Encountering the Charm of a Small Town in Western Hunan

After a smooth journey and transfers, we arrived safely in Zhangjiajie. The mountain city, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, offered a refreshing and comfortable environment; the warm, moist air instantly washed away our travel fatigue.

After settling into our accommodation, we sampled local delicacies, enjoying authentic Sanxia Guo (a type of stew), rice noodles, and Tujia snacks. The genuine Xiangxi flavors were fresh, fragrant, and rich, giving us an immediate taste of the local vibrant atmosphere.

In the evening, we strolled through the city and checked out the famous Seventy-Two Wonders Towers at night. The layered pavilions, brightly lit, created a stunning ambiance, filling us with anticipation for the rest of our scenic journey.

Day 2: Explore the National Forest Park and encounter natural landscape paintings

The next day, we entered Zhangjiajie National Forest Park early. The morning mist enveloped the mountains and forests, creating a lush, verdant landscape. The air was fresh and invigorating, truly a natural oxygen bar.

We took the cable car to the summit of Huangshizhai, where thousands of uniquely shaped peaks rose abruptly from the ground, standing in a breathtaking array. Clouds and mist swirled among the peaks, creating a harmonious blend of mountains and water, a scene of profound beauty. Only by seeing it with our own eyes can we truly understand the ethereal beauty of Zhangjiajie.

In the afternoon, we leisurely hiked along the Golden Whip Stream. The stream was crystal clear, with ancient trees towering on both banks, providing ample shade. The babbling brook and the melodious birdsong made for a relaxing and truly therapeutic hike.

On the third day, we embarked on our Tianmen Mountain cloud-top adventure, slowly ascending in an ultra-long cable car. The entire journey offered expansive views, overlooking the surrounding mountains and valleys, providing an immersive and breathtaking experience of soaring through the clouds.

At the mountaintop, a sea of clouds surged and rolled, creating a magnificent panorama. We visited the popular glass walkway and cliffside walkway. Below us, sheer cliffs and a sea of clouds stretched out, a dreamlike and thrilling sight.

We also got a close look at the giant Tianmen Cave, a natural karst cave suspended high on the cliff face, its imposing presence awe-inspiring. The setting sun cast its golden rays across the mountains, adding a touch of ethereal beauty to Tianmen Mountain.

Day4: Roam around Furong Ancient Town and feel the ancient charm of western Hunan for thousands of years

On the fourth day, we visited the popular Furong Ancient Town, a thousand-year-old town perched atop a waterfall. Built against the mountains and beside the water, the entire town boasts a tranquil and rustic environment, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We strolled along the ancient cobblestone alleys, admired the stilted houses along the water, and sampled various Hunan-style snacks. The quaint streets and alleys were full of life, showcasing the authentic folk customs of western Hunan.

Furong Ancient Town is most stunning at night, with the waterfall cascading down and thousands of lights illuminating the ancient buildings. The shimmering water and lights reflect each other, creating a gentle, dreamlike night scene with a captivating atmosphere.

4. Personal Suggestion

First, the weather in the Zhangjiajie mountainous area is unpredictable; it is recommended to carry an umbrella and a light jacket to cope with temperature changes.

Second, there are many mountain paths in the scenic area; it is recommended to wear comfortable, non-slip sports shoes for long hikes.

Third, during peak season, be sure to book tickets for all scenic spots in advance to avoid delays due to ticket shortages.

Fourth, during the tour, follow the guide's pace closely and avoid venturing into undeveloped areas to ensure your safety.
